The Old Castle Bakery - Self Catering Apartments
In years gone by The Old Castle Bakery has been a restaurant, a cake shop and the local bakery. There has been a dwelling on this spot since 1230 when the castle was built. A complete refurbishment in 2012 has turned it into 2 delightful self catering holiday apartments providing fabulous accommodation, all completed to a high standard of decoration and furnishings. No. 31 is on the first floor with access from street level and No. 29 is a ground floor two bedroomed holiday let with open plan sitting/dining room and kitchen. Self catering in North Wales has never been better.
The Bakery sits opposite Criccieth Castle, and is only a stone's throw from Cadwalader's Ice Cream shop, one of the best fish and chip shops on the Lleyn, pubs, shops, restaurants and the pretty pebbled and sandy beaches are 100 metres in either direction. A short drive takes you to some of North Wales' best attractions; Portmeirion, the Welsh Highland Railways, Nant Gwrtheyrn (The Lost Village), Lloyd George Museum and many more. The beaches and mountains around this area are some of the most scenic in the world. Porthmadog is the nearest town with all amenities available and the seaside town of Pwllheli is only 8 miles along the Llyn.
Castle Street was once the main shopping street in the lovely town of Criccieth. All the houses now have their own unique character and The Old Castle Bakery is no exception. Steeped in local history the first thing you see when you arrive is the impressive stained glass window commemorating its past as a Bakery. The area boasts the beautiful Snowdonia National Park and the Lleyn Coastal Path, an Area of Outstanding Beauty. Whether you are a serious rambler or just enjoy a casual stroll, the coastal path has it all. With 95 miles of footpath to enjoy the diverse scenery of the coast and mountains.
The atmosphere of No. 29 is seaside indulgence, with big comfy sofas and wood floors. No. 31 has deep pile cream carpet throughout and has an relaxed air about it, all very conducive for a memorable holiday. Both apartments are furnished to a high standard with every amenity. There are games, books and DVD players in both and guests are encouraged to 'swap' books when they have finished theirs.
Both apartments have well equipped kitchens to help make self catering away from home easy, but with a plethora of restaurants and cafes in the village, why cook? Each one boasts two bedrooms, with zip and link beds that can be kept as superking size or two singles. All the linen is provided as are tea towels, a variety of hand and bath towels and cleaning clothes. Every step has been taken to ensure your self catering holiday in North Wales runs smoothly.
The family bathrooms have a luxurious hotel feel to them and have huge showers to accommodate small people and large alike.
3 and 4 night breaks are available from £220 and weekly bookings from £395 depending on time of year.
